Electronic & Smart Locks for Self-Storage Facilities
BUNO supplies, installs and operates the complete access layer for self-storage buildings — electronic locks on every unit door, the controllers that drive them, and the software that decides who gets in. Your site runs 24/7 with no staff on location.
What BUNO actually supplies
Not a lock catalogue and not software alone. One vendor for hardware, wiring plan, installation and the access control system behind it.
- Access software with self-storage business CRM
- Personal account (web-based and branded mobile application)
- Hardware components for access system
- Installation on the facilities
- Support services
How a tenant opens their unit
The tenant unlocks from their phone. The decision is made server-side, against the live contract — not by a credential stored on the door.
- Mobile app and web account. iOS and Android app, or the browser-based tenant portal.
- Access within minutes of booking. Payment confirmation releases the unit automatically — no staff step, no key handover.
- Presence check before unlock. The unlock only succeeds when the tenant is at the facility or connected to the site Wi-Fi.
- Automatic blocking on arrears. An overdue account can't open the door. The tenant sees the outstanding amount and can settle it in the portal to restore access immediately.
- Full access log. Every open attempt is recorded with user, unit, timestamp and result, retained for three months.
What the operator controls
Everything an on-site manager used to do by walking the corridor, done from the admin console.
- Remote unlock. Open any unit from the CRM when a tenant needs help or a contractor needs entry.
- Role-based permissions. Separate rights for managers, on-site staff, partners, API clients and tenants.
- Audited actions. Admin operations are logged, and logs distinguish a tenant request from a staff one.
- Exception alerts. Door-left-open and unauthorised-access events surface in the CRM.
- Data export. Units, tenants, contracts and invoices export to Excel, with payment links intact.
What happens when something fails
Most vendors skip this section. These are the answers you will need during due diligence, so here they are up front.
The site is online-only
Unlock decisions are made server-side, so the facility needs a live connection. We design around that rather than pretending otherwise.
Connectivity backup
We specify a secondary LTE link with automatic failover, plus a UPS on the access hardware. Both are part of the standard site design.
Remote power cycling
An internet-controlled relay can be added so the controller chain can be rebooted without a site visit. Available as a priced option.
Your data stays yours
Each client runs in a fully isolated environment. If you leave, you take the full dataset with you — it's written into the agreement.
Retrofit an existing facility
Already trading with padlocks and a staffed desk? The locks mount on the doors you have. We survey the building, produce the cabling plan, and phase the installation so units stay rentable during the work.
Fit out a new building
Bringing us in at design stage is cheaper. Cable routes, socket positions and network ports get specified before the walls close, and the site opens unstaffed from day one.
